SoZeN
Hailing from Waterford, Michigan are the up-and-coming female fronted modern metal and hard rock band 'SoZeN'. Today we listened to their track ‘Solitude of despair’.
Onion Mash
The song kicks off with a clip of the recording from the man behind the “Killdozer” with a nice melodic guitar intro. The tempo quickens and catchy guitar riff we mentioned in the bio is there for all to see, with some great vocals to compliment it.
Bazerk
front man Zu reminds me of Chuck D from Public Enemy a lot, the power in the words resonate through you straight away with an uplifting message in the song “Have you for gotten how powerful and great you are”
Kaivs
The song continuously pounds at you with these powerful unrelenting guitar riffs that continue to come at you and get faster as the song progresses.
ASK ANDY
This track has a great bass line and teamed with the guitar, this starts the song off really well. A chord progression follows which almost has an element of country rock, bringing a feeling of emotion.
SELIAS
‘TWISTED PATH’ starts of off with a ferocious assault of heavy riffs and monstrous vocals that set the tone for the rest of the track. Built on a solid foundation of powerful drums and dynamic guitar parts, the band unfolds its musical potential.
Adjentist
We jump straight in with “Dark Days” and I’m going to have to link it right now because the opening groove is so f**king sick! The vocals are seriously impressive, with a great screamed verse followed up with great cleans. This track goes f**king hard.
BROKEN STATES
They hit you like a sledgehammer to the head! I can see this track being a mosh pit starter!
DUSK
Following up The Fall would be a tall order but we have “Insane” which is (i’m sorry for doing this) insanely good! The vocals continue to be easily understood with a chorus with some clean vocals, the bridge riff is a standout with the track being another sonic assault.
Kingseeker
The ranges Kingseeker possess are immense and between this track and the next you’ll see what we mean.
ACTS OF VENGEANCE
The guitar parts are not only technical but the solo is full of emotion, then we’re straight back into the ‘punch you in the face’ riffs.
Collision Point
Soon as the track begins, we’re hit with that great bass tone again, it’s goes with the main riff so well again it’s very refreshing to have the bass stand out and not be lost in the mix!
UNDURSKIN
Their new track ‘New model Eve’ features world famous bass player Billy Sheehan, who has played with the likes of Talas, Steve Vai and David lee Roth to name but a few!
Gateways
Then we get to the chorus and the vocals further exceed expectations with a switch up through shouting to some excellent cleans.
Temperium
Next up we have “Trapped”. This starts a little differently with a great brooding intro giving an ominous feel to it before the band begins. Again, the bass in this song exceptional and continues in the same manner as “Nevermore”. We’re treated even further with the chorus being a great vocal showcase that is bound to make it a staple in many playlists.
Jackpipe
It wouldn’t be right not to mention the cover song on the EP in the form of “Roots Bloody Roots” famously done by Sepultura. Not only does Jackpipe successfully give it the original feel of the song but put their own twist on it. It is an incredible cover, and straight into the headbanger HQ playlist.
Kattlick
The guitar on this track has you headbanging with simple but powerful riffs. As the vocals begin, everything combines to create a raw death metal sound that really pounds and it almost leaves you hypnotised.
Mystic
The title track kicks us off with a death metal sound that makes its appearance throughout the EP. The track then heads in an unusual direction with electronic music, voiceovers more screams then ending with an almost operatic sound. This track really was unpredictable but as it ended we were keen to hear more.
Cult of Orpist
Cult of Orpist emerged from the ashes in early 2021, forged by Chris Panagitsas and Hector Sohos with one ruthless objective: to unleash a relentless onslaught of 90s Death/Thrash mayhem, drawing inspiration from icons like SLAYER, ENTOMBED, SODOM, KREATOR, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, and beyond.
From The Grave
Much of From the Grave's music is inspired by life experiences, film, literature, and original poetry. From the Grave pairs well with artists such as Opeth, Black Sabbath, Pantera, and Type O Negative.
